Our Approach
Our Approach
The work is carefully considered and detailed to avoid problems, and will be based on a lifetime of studying magical illusions. Your project will be executed with excellent craftsmanship, to create the illusions and effects you are looking for.
We operate with a high degree of discretion, and your project location and name will never be mentioned by us. We are thrilled if we can photograph your project, but a large part of magical ethics is not sharing secrets, so we never assume that you would want this.
Also, if it's not fun, we aren't doing it!
Our Story
Our Story
Richard and Eric met decades ago while both were performing magic in Earthquake McGoon's Magic Cellar, in San Francisco. Richard went on to a career in architecture, while Eric went on to a doctorate and a professorship at a university. They've stayed friends all this time, joined by their common interest in magic and architecture. (Also, fishing.)
Meet the Team
Magical Architecture should be produced by a team with a magical background, shouldn't it?

Richard Morrison
Architect
Richard paid his way through architecture school as a stage hypnotist and professional magician. When he came to the Bay Area after graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, he did a stint as a street performer on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, and later worked in various venues as a close-up magician and stage performer.
Called a "very clever fellow" by one of his clients (thanks, Josephine!), Richard is longtime member of Mensa, and brings his brain cells to your project.
You can check out Richard's more "normal" website at www.richardmorrison.com.

Eric Van Duzer
Magic Consultant
Eric is a professor of education at Humboldt State University, and the author of Seven Basic Secrets of Illusion Design. He has lectured internationally, and taught graduate-level classes, on incorporating illusion theory into architectural designs.
A talented magician in his own right, Dr. Van Duzer is a prolific inventor of magical illusions and devices, and a heck of a nice guy!
